Improving irrigation management and input supply in Chad

The Project « Gestion de l’irrigation, warrantage et approvisionnement collectif d’intrants pour la production vivrière dans le polder Guini » of the Union des sociétés d’action rurale des périmètres irrigués du lac - USARPAL (member of the Conseil National de Concertation des Producteurs Ruraux du Tchad - CNCPRT). was launched in August 2016 during a ceremony held à Bol/Lac (Chad) by 

The Project falls under SFOAP component 3 (Provision of Economic Services) and is among the nine projects being supported by the programme in Central Africa.

The overall goal of the project is to enhance productivity and improve incomes of members of the Union in the Guini polder. The project is expected to : (i) Improve irrigation management ; (ii) Enable farmers to get access to quality inputs ; (iii) Improve farmers’ income; (iv) Reinforce the organisationsational and technical capacities of beneficiaries.

The main activities supported by the project include the management of the irrigation system, input supply, the set up the secretariat of USURPAL, the reinforcement of the capacity of members through training for women and leadership and the management, monitoring and capitalisation of results.
