SACAU attends the planning meeting for the alliance for commodity trade in Eastern and Southern Africa (ACTESA) in Lusaka

The Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) secretariat organized a planning meeting for the Commodity Trade in Eastern and Southern Africa (ACTESA) program in Livingstone (Zambia), aiming at enhancing national and regional trade in staple foods in order to stimulate agricultural growth and accelerated broad based poverty reduction in the region.

Three priorities were identified for ACTESA program and SACAU, as representative of farmers, played a critical role in their identification: (1)  improved competitiveness and integration of staple foods markets; (2) improved and expanded market facilities and services for staple foods commercialization; (3) increased commercial integration of staple food producers into national and regional markets.

In addition, the Presidents from EAFF and SACAU were nominated to be part of the Steering Committee of the program.
