SACAU Officials visited the Seychelles Farmers’ Association (SeyFA)

SACAU Officials  visited the Seychelles Farmers’ Association (SeyFA) (see more on from 10th to 12th July 2011,  to (i) assess progress on the implementation of SFOAP and (ii) consult with SeyFA regarding the main phase of SFOAP.

Through the SFOAP funding the SeyFA has been able to support the core functions of the National Secretariat  and has greatly increased its visibility not only to its members but also to other stakeholders and policy makers. In addition, SeyFA played leading role in the establishment of the Livestock Trust Fund under which the government imposed a levy of SR5 per Kg on all imported chicken since 2009.  Livestock Trust Fund Board manages a levy collected on importation of chicken to support livestock farmers in reducing cost of production to enable fair competition with imported meat.
