A workshop on Knowledge Management and Institutional Development in the East African Farmers Federation (EAFF) was held in December, 2010 in Nairobi, Kenya.

Knowledge management and Learning (KM&L) was introduced in EAFF as an integration of information management, M&E, communication and learning/adaptation. The first learning workshop on knowledge management and Learning and institutional development in EAFF aimed to explore the issues around the topic and a way forward on integrating Knowledge Management and Learning in EAFF and NFOs Secretariats.

Participants in the workshop analysed their situation and context through the KM&L lenses and came up with specific issues and bottlenecks to be addressed at different levels: a) the level of farmers; b) the level of farmers’ organisations; and c) the level of EAFF umbrella.

Based on this broader analysis, each FO and the EAFF umbrella developed a plan of action.
